New beginnings….

December 27th came and went and there I was officially retired from being a nurse. How can I retire from nursing at the age of 42? Let’s just say retired from the bureaucratic hospital nursing where we worry more about dotting our i’s and crossing ours t’s than we do about our patients, we are always on the ready for The Joint Commission, who were created to make life safer for the patient and the healthcare staff and by many views does no such thing they just make it more difficult year to year to take good care of our patients, to come in and possibly close our doors or at least write us up for one or two infractions against the little ever-changing rule book. Oops got off on a tangent there, but yes I retired from that nursing and getting back to the nursing that I believe God created me for(Psalms 139:15-16). Nursing where I can take my time and bond with the patient and create a relationship with them, nursing like Jesus did when he was with the man with Leprosy (Matt 8:2-4); He wasn’t afraid to touch him, He wasn’t afraid to love him, He just did it and that is what I believe God is calling me to do. Back to nursing where I am not so concerned about the almighty dollar and insurance companies and whether this patient will need a pre-authorization before we can care for them or do we accept their insurance at all. I know it’s not a perfect world but maybe I can try to make it a little bit better with my God and the skills he has given me. It’s the start of new beginnings for me and with a blog to keep friends and family up to date on my life, I hope that you will stop in for the next up date……

  1. I wish there were more nurses and doctors (and other business people) like you. I wish our world wasn’t so money minded. Jesus didn’t get paid for what he did, yet he paid the ultimate price for us! Keep doing what you’re doing, God will reward you greatly! 🙂

    God Bless, AJ.
